From Stewardship Chair Cory Johnson:

Dear St. Clement’s,

‘Tis the season. It’s the season when God tugs gently at our hearts— and this stewardship speaker tugs at your wallet.

But there is so much more to stewardship than that stash in your billfold. “Time, talents and treasure,” to be sure. Moreover, stewardship is a very part of our discipleship. It is not merely the support of a budget but the offering of our lives—our selves, our souls and bodies—in response to God’s abundant grace. Each of us is entrusted with gifts, and each of us is called to discern how best to return those gifts to support St. Clement’s.

As we enter this season of reflection and preparation, I find myself giving thanks for the quiet steadfastness of this parish. We gather at the table, hear the Word proclaimed and offer our prayers for the life of the world. In these familiar patterns of worship, God continues to shape us into a people of gratitude, service, and hope.

Your financial pledge sustains the ministries that make our common life possible: the sacraments that nourish us, the pastoral care that comforts us, the outreach that extends Christ’s compassion beyond these walls and the formation that grounds our children in the faith. Every gift, whether large or small, strengthens this community — it holds up the very walls of St. Clement’s for us and unknown strangers who will come after us.

Thank you for your prayers, your presence, and your generosity. An acolyte once asked why we pause so long before the offertory. “It gives Episcopalians time to consider generosity,” I said. “And then time to reconsider.”

In this season of reflection and preparation, I hope you can give this parish your re-consideration.

With gratitude,

Cory Johnson, Stewardship Chair
